So, a number of people have made the observation: why am I not going after the Republicans who voted for CAFTA? Well, that’s a legitimate point and I’m planning to include them in the broader effort under the CAFTA 15 project.
But, as I always strive to make you’all happy (okay, it’s not just because I’m a swell guy but I want you to come back, right?), here’s a chance to nail a Republican CAFTA supporter.
Cuz, listen up–on Thursday, there will be a fundraiser for Rep. Tim Murphy, a Republican from the 18th District in Pennsylvania (the Pittsburgh area, I’m told). Right after the CAFTA vote, Murphy was treated to a protest rally outside his district office (see photo here), courtesy of the Steelworkers, who, as far as I can tell, have been the regular union warriors out there making sure that pro-CAFTA voters got a bit of the business.
The fundraiser is billed as a “CAFTA Celebration Reception” and takes place from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM at the AGC Townhouse 53 D Street, SE Washington, DC. Now, the suggested contributions are $1,000 per PAC or $500 per Individual. And you can tell the hosts what you think of that by calling some dude named Mike Gula at 703.575.7676 or dropping an email to: info@keelencomm.com
But, the best thing you could do is: if you live in the D.C. area, get out there just as a hardy group of people did recently when the CAFTA 15 were feted by a pro-business alliance. I hear some union folks and other citizen warrions (Public Citizen, of course) will be out there.
