I was going to write something else about the foolishness of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) but, hey, WikiLeaks beat me to it. This dumbness on the part of the Democratic Party to wrap their arms around so-called “free trade”, stretching all the way back to Bill Clinton and his (and, I know people want to conveniently forget, ROBERT REICH’S) passionate embrace of NAFTA, is the sad gift that keeps giving. And, now, another Democrat is happy to walk all over the environment to achieve…what? More stupid trade policy.

Yesterday, I wrote about a report that basically said it’s a myth that tax cuts are a huge boon to the economy. Well, there’s actually a second part to that.

So, as we gather steam towards Tax Day, let’s keep up this drumbeat: tax cuts don’t help the economy. Or, at least, there isn’t the evidence to prove they do. So, says the Congressional Research Service.

Punishment should bring about change — that’s what every parent wants. More important, that’s what societal punishment I suppose tries to accomplishment. Which is why billions of dollars in fines doesn’t really matter. Nothing will change.

So, hard to know if this will lead anywhere but it’s a positive, and comes from an odd place in certain respects.

Time flies when you’ve been screwed. I’m going to write some more about this but, for the time being, let’s not forget that it’s been 20 years since NAFTA was passed…and it was bad shit then and bad shit now.

I almost forgive the New York Times (not quite) for all the horrific editorials over the past years. For this one:

Really, people are being grossly unfair to Max Baucus, wondering why someone who doesn’t speak Chinese would qualify to serve as ambassador. But, c’mon people, focus on the important lingo Baucus brings to the table: it would be hard to find another Democratic elected official who speaks such fluent corporate shillism…The man has got a perfect pitch. But, there is a silver lining.

This really isn’t surprising but worth reading anyway. Women do better in unions.

Blah, blah, blah…the most sickening repetitive nonsense is really the bi-partisan stupidity politicians show when they open their mouths spewing out Chamber of Commerce falsehoods that tax cuts create jobs, and stumble all over themselves (with visions of corporate PAC checks dancing in their heads) to demand, right now, for the health of the economy, some new idiotic corporate tax cut. And so here’s a little actual, uh, research, that proves how false the “corporate tax cuts create jobs” idea really is.
