The Oracle of Omaha’s Cost-Free Rhetoric

Just a quick addition to my criticism of the Oracle of Omaha’s empty cry for higher taxes. Let’s see, wanna guess how much money Warren Buffett has invested of his multi-billion dollar fortune into pushing a campaign to hike taxes on the wealthy?

   Zero.

   Zilch.

   Nada.

Ok, I guess since the Oracle’s time is money (I recall some guy paying a lot of money to have lunch with the Oracle), then, the time he spent thinking and writing his sophistric op-ed piece was an expenditure. But, how much money has he spent setting up an organization or paying for organizers or even saying, "I will donate money to defeat every Member of Congress who is not for raising taxes on the rich"?

   Zero.

   Zilch.

   Nada.

So, let’s get real. The Oracle’s rhetoric comes with absolutely no real commitment to lead the charge. Because he won’t really confront his class buddies.

The hoo-hah over this is really a sad comment on how low our expectations have become, and how truly leaderless we are: a billionaire gets a free ride without laying any money on the table.
