It’s nice to see a really big leap forward. That would be the vote in Seattle to hike the minimum wage to $15 per hour, though phased in over 3-7 years. But, let’s be clear this only the beginning: bold, but moderate.
The “bold but moderate” view is not simply mine. It’s the Mayor himself:
“While this is a bold proposal, it is a moderate proposal: There’s a seven-year phase in,” Mayor Ed Murray said. The process of compromise brought “huge wins” for business, particularly small business, during implementation, the mayor added.
That’s because the minimum wage should be $20-an-hour if you take into account productivity over the past 30-40 years.
