Politicians, as a whole, are not very smart — they don’t read, they don’t think for themselves and they are usually not very curious. So, they usually get spoon-fed all sorts of garbage that they can just regurgitate. Especially corporate-speak — and there are a whole lot of front groups spewing out garbage, especially on taxes.
I happened to come upon this previous report from the good people at Citizens For Tax Justice, which peals back the cover on a whole raft of front groups for the proposition that corporate taxes are too high:
In this report we identify the nine lobby groups most actively and publicly advocating for business interests in the corporate tax debate: the Alliance for Competitive Taxation (ACT), Businesses United for Interest and Loan Deductibility (BUILD), Campaign for a Home Court Advantage (a campaign by the Business Roundtable), Coalition for Fair Effective Tax Rates, Fix the Debt, Let’s Invest for Tomorrow (LIFT) America, Reforming America’s Taxes Equitably (RATE), Tax Innovation Equality, and the WIN America Campaign.
It’s worth nailing a list of these names to the doors of every Member of Congress to at least try to shine the light on the agenda of those spilling out ideas that harm the economy.
