I’m still irate a day after reading Michael Moss’ piece in The New York Times (registration required) about the Pentagon study that found “that as many as 80 percent of the marines who have been killed in Iraq from wounds to the upper body could have survived if they had extra body armor.”

My view: Donald Rumsfeld deserves to be fired immediately for this kind of incompetence. You’ve got all these war-mongering politicians eager to send our men and women off to die (but, many of them have never served nor would they send their own children to Iraq) and, yet, they can’t even bother to make sure that those soldiers have the basic equipment to survive.

What an outrage.
