Rarely a day goes by without hearing about another disaster for the union movement. But, hey, here’s a good one: you can now fly with unionized Jet Blue pilots.
They voted:
Pilots at JetBlue Airways Corp. voted to unionize in an about-face that ended the carrier’s status as one of the last nonunion airlines in the U.S.
About 70% of JetBlue’s more than 2,500 aviators voted to join the Air Line Pilots Association, the world’s largest pilots union by members, the company and the union said on Tuesday.
Interestingly, didn’t differ in a big way with other unionized carries. But, Jet Blue pilots wanted more say over controlling their work lives as the carrier expanded.
