Have Any Of The Pundits Actually Organized?

Kind of funny but here’s a simple question: have any of the progressive pundits wringing their hands over the president’s lackluster debate showing ever actually worked on the grassroots part of a campaign? I think the answer is clear.

I chuckle at this:

After months of watching Mitt Romney twist in the media glare, a growing number of President Barack Obama’s supporters — though confined for now to a noisy minority of liberals — are peering into the Obama-might-actually-lose abyss for the first time after last week’s disastrous first debate.

I’m guessing few, if any, of the unnamed “growing number” ever walked a precinct or looked at a call sheet or understood anything about the mechanics of turning out voters to the polls. Because if they had, they would understand that the election fundamentals are not going to change and this is a turn-out election. And, on that score, the president has built-in advantages.

I’m not saying the messaging and other pieces of the campaign don’t matter. It’s simply that the people who are whining are, as David Plouffe memorably said in 2008, bedwetters.
