If He’s a Liberal…

Just before heading out to a D.C. meeting on organizing professional workers (I’ll post some thoughts about that also), I can’t help but digress from my usual topics to take note of a laugher in The New York Times. In Sunday’s Week In Review, David Kirkpatrick wrote a story about a spit at the neocons journal, The National Interest. Apparently, the split caused the creation of a new magazine, The American Interest, which will be started with among others, as Kirkpatrick writes, “Zbigniew Brzezinski, a liberal and President Carter’s former national security advisor….” I added the emphasis on the liberal. Oh, my god, is that hilarious or what?

Brzezinski must either be appalled or laughing now that he has been annointed with the liberal epithet. I suppose compared to people like Midge Decter and Irving Kristol, Brzezinski might appear to be to the left. But, really, Kirkpatrick, who writes about media, should stay away from political analysis.
