Questions, questions, questions…I think that’s been my pre-occupation for the past six months. While so many people seem certain that they have the right answers to the future of labor, I find so many questions still begging for an answer–partly because there is no easy answer for our predicament. And, repeatedly in this space, I’ve raised many of those questions.

So, when New Labor Forum asked me to write an article for its forthcoming issue analyzing what happened at the AFL-CIO convention, I decided to focus on the questions that remain unanswered (I had done a recent piece on unions in airlines for NLF). I’m giving you a sneak peak at the article with this edited but not prettied up version (I’ll post the real-nice version later). Its title is not mine but what the heck: “After the Big Rift: Questions the Labor Movement Must Now Confront.”

Read it, if you’d like–and come up with your own (briefly-stated) questions. Put them in the COMMENTS section. Use it to get your other colleagues and friends suggesting their own questions. I’ll collect the suggestions and, then, after a period, repost the most coherent ones (though if you live on the East Coast, after enduring the soup of the second hottest summer on record, coherence might be hard to find).
