For those of us who remember the long grocery workers’ strike that went on for almost five months back in 2003-2004, there apparently won’t be a repeat. The Los Angeles Times was reporting yesterday that:
Grocery clerks appear to be backing new contract

Grocery workers across Southern California cast their votes Sunday — many of them enthusiastically — on an agreement to end protracted contract talks with the region’s largest supermarket chains.
The agreement provides the first scheduled raises for the grocery workers since 2002.
The contract covers 65,000 union members who work at 785 Albertsons, Ralphs and Vons store from San Diego to Bakersfield. It appeared to be getting overwhelmingly support from grocery workers who voted in 25 locations over the weekend, union officials said.
