I really can’t think of a member of the U.S. Senate that is so distasteful as Rick Santorum. While I am skeptical of the Democrats chances of doing well this year–because the party still lacks a real vision–I will celebrate no matter what the outcome if Santorum goes down. And there is probably a better than even chance that he will lose–and, yes, his Democratic opponent, Bob Casey, is no raging progressive.

Today, The New York Times has a piece about Santorum’s attempt at a make-over. It’s a common political gambit: run your campaign as a complete charade to obscure who you really are and how you vote and what you will actually do in the Senate when you are elected or re-elected.
