This is a must-read op-ed column in the Los Angeles Times (registration required). It’s by Lawrence Wilkerson, who served as chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin L. Powell from 2002 to 2005. Wilkerson has been all over the news recently after he described the White House cabal, led by Vice President Dick Cheney, that pushed the U.S. into the unconscionable war in Iraq. This op-ed simply, but clearly, describes in his own words the nature of the cabal.

Though this doesn’t come as a surprise to many of us, it is an insight offered by someone who was close at hand when the cabal was doing its work.
