Okay, all you ranters and ravers–you want to do something concrete? I now have the details on the business-sponsored fundraiser for the CAFTA 15—which was first reported here and then followed up the next day—which is taking place TOMORROW at 101 Constitution Ave in Washington D.C. from 6-8 p.m.
Inside the building, the CAFTA 15 will be feted in the office of the Nortel Company–this is the front group for a host of corporate sponsors including: Motorola;
Caterpillar; Pfi zer;
Procter & Gamble;
General Motors;
Boeing and
Texas Instruments.
Here’s what you can do:
1. If you are in D.C. or you know someone in D.C., get out there at 5:30 when a core of labor people will be there. Bring signs and cameras (if you send me the photos, I’ll post the best ones and add them to the CAFTA 15 section—these could be very useful archival information during a potential primary fight).
2. Check out the official invitation: bombard the official RSVP e-mail with whatever messages you choose. rsvp@15appreciation.org. If you want to go even further, pick up the phone and call these two guys who are listed as coordinating contributions: Doug Wiley (703.907.7525)
or Fred Nichols (202.236.1213). Tell them that whatever contribution they receive for the CAFTA 15 will be out matched by the efforts you put in working to support primary opponents against the CAFTA 15. Or you can use other language that I, of course, would just blush to use.
