Trying to advance the theme a bit here–since there are enough people correctly taking the White House to task for capitulating to the Republicans on the tax cuts for the very rich–I’d like to raise our eyes up a bit eyer to two years out.
The president just said, at a news conference, roughly the following (I didn’t take handwritten notes to get it verbatim): in two years, we’ll have the fight again and I’m confident the people will be with me.
Excuse me, excuse me–the people were with you now, as you pointed out. In two years, mark my words, the Democrats will be incapable, as they have always been, about fighting to demand that the richest pay their fair share and, in an election year, the White House will cave again and give more money to the rich.
I’m taking bets.
