While Americans Suffer, Senate Bickers

I’ve been watching this for sometime and it’s truly absurd–the Congress can’t get an extension of unemployment benefits passed because Republicans are standing in the door blocking it. The House a bill to extend unemployment benefits a month ago, but it is still stuck in the Senate. There was a story posted on CNN that I caught. What was most interesting to me were the comments posted–people are pissed:

I have been out of work for over 10 months. One of the jobs I applied for was a program manager position and there were over 618 applicants. I honestly thought I would be able to find a job fairly quickly. It hasn’t happened. In 10 months, I have sent out over 1,000 resumes and filled out over 500 applications. I’m not looking for a 6-figure income. I’m just looking for work.

   And…

I could CARE LESS about extending benefits when my daughter and I have NO money coming in, child support hasn’t been paid in 2 years and after all those years of paying in I’m no longer "monetarily eligible". WE TRULY HAVE A "F’ED" UP SYSTEM IN THIS COUNTRY…and President Obama has FORGOTTEN THOSE OF US LOOKING FOR MORE THAN A YEAR!!!!!!

There is no reason to hold this bill up. It should be passed. Today.
