I happened to catch a fairly dumb, back-patting panel run by the Democratic Governors Association (DGA)–ok, sure, it was to be expected to be of low level. Why? Here is a dumb question that unfortunately reflects the on-going rhetoric in the country: John Podesta, uber-lobbyist/insider/head of the Center for American Progress, asked: how important is to bring back manufacturing the country?
That isn’t the problem.
The question should be: how to make jobs, manufacturing or service, into good-paying jobs where people can belong to unions?
It will not help us have a healthy economy to have jobs "come back" if they pay a third less than what they used to pay, with no health care or benefits. Oh, it will help the industrialists. But, not much the people.
