In my own quest to highlight peace initiatives within labor, I’d like to say, there’s good news today: back in mid-September, the Teamsters and CWA (the Teamsters being part of the Change To Win federation and the CWA in the AFL-CIO) agreed to jointly represent workers after the merger between America West and UsAir.
Well, the members went for it, too: both the Teamsters group and CWA group ratified the Joint Representational Agreement yesterday by wide margins.
Teamsters: 1321 to 175 with 88% of the vote.
CWA: 1200 to 199 with 84% of the vote.
Peace is a good thing. Cooperation is divine.
