No doubt about it — this Administration has a “boys club” at the highest level. And, if people feel so insistent that appointing Janet Yellen to head the Federal Reserve Board will be important to righting that balance, by all means, pick her. But, do not mistake that calculation with making a choice in policy differences.

A few weeks ago, I wrote that the whole debate about choosing a man versus a women obscured a central question that touches the lives of millions of people: would it make a difference on substance? The answer is not really.

In particular, there is virtually no discussion, other than from Bernie Sanders, about whether the new Fed chair will fulfill its most important mandate: full employment.
