Unity and Buy-Outs

Late last night, I heard just a bit of information out of Vegas (I had other commitments so cannot be on the scene, unfortunately…need to win back that money from March). There is not yet a candidate to challenge John Sweeney. Obviously, as I reported, John Wilhelm doesn’t want to jump in unless there seems like a path to victory. But, there is a strong consensus on program and a lot of unity. More details on the program hopefully today and tomorrow.

Also, the Guild and management at 16th Street are trying to hammer out a package for people who want to jump ship and leave voluntarily, as opposed to being laid off in the Fall (that’s when the actual announced cuts would take hold). I hear they are close and may wrap up the negotiations this week—but past promised deals didn’t materialize. The angst at 16th Street continues.
